What is Neuropathy?
Peripheral neuropathy occurs when the nerves that transmit information to and from your brain and spinal cord to the other parts of your body are damaged. When the nerves are damaged, the messages that they transmit are distorted or interrupted, like having static on a telephone line.
Common Symptoms of Peripheral Neuropathy
• Numbness, tingling, pricking sensations
• Sharp shooting or jabbing pains
• Sensitivity to touch
• Muscle weakness
• Burning pain, especially at night.
Common Neuropathy Treatments
Many patients are on very strong prescription pain killers and anti-depressants. Not only can these become addictive, they only cover up the symptoms, not actually addressing the root cause of the problem. We find that many of these patients have been told to expect their condition to get progressively worse, and that there is no cure or long-term solution.
Our Treatment Approach is Different
Instead of prescribing drugs that mask the pain, or treatments that block the distorted nerve signals, we use multiple tools to re-build nerve pathways to get them communicating again and address the underlying cause of the pain. When the nerves are able to communicate properly, symptoms can be reduced.
Joint & Spine utilizes multiple cutting edge tools to treat Neuropathy including K-Laser Therapy, ReBuilderTM Neurostimulator and High Intensity Laser Therapy.
K-Laser Therapy improves neuropathy symptoms by preventing neural apoptosis and enhancing neurite outgrowth. Additionally, studies indicate laser therapy produces significant improvement of functional recovery after crush injury and toxin exposure.
K-Laser Therapy has shown to be 90% effective at treating the symptoms of neuropathy with no observed complications.*
The ReBuilder Neurostimulator device emits a pain-free, electrical signal to boost communication between the cells and gets nerves talking to each other again. This can help relieve the numbness, tingling, and pain and induces an endorphin release that creates a sense of well being.
High Intensity Laser Therapy promotes increased circulation by drawing oxygen and nutrients to the affected area. This creates an optimal healing environment reducing inflammation, swelling, muscle spasms, stiffness and pain. As the inured area returns to normal, pain is relieved and function is restored.
Our therapies may also be combined with other manual therapies to assist in the healing process. Some patients also benefit from nutrition counseling and suggested supplementation.
Not every treatment option is right for every patient. One of our doctors will recommend the combination of treatment options that is best suited for your individual situation.
